Negative perception of Islam in US higher than after 9/11

According to a Washington Post/ABC News poll, nearly half of the US population has a negative view of Islam, 7% higher than polls taken after 9/11. And a majority now say that Muslims are `disproportionately prone to violence'.Negative Perception Of Islam Increasing

According to the poll, the proportion of Americans who believe that Islam helps to stoke violence against non-Muslims has more than doubled since the attacks, from 14 percent in January 2002 to 33 percent today.

Personally, I think the numbers are even higher.

As I've written here before, one of President Bush's biggest failures in this war was in not defining jihad and Radical Islam as the enemy until recently and by not calling on loyal American Muslims to take sides in this war and help combat Islamism.
