Steyn-O-Phobia???

Writer and columnist Mark Steyn, the author of `Eye Of The Tiger' and `America Alone' is under attack in Canada by Muslim groups claiming that his writings are `Islamophobic', in another attempt to strangle free speech here in the west.

What happened is that Maclean's, the number one news magazine in Canada presented an excerpt from Steyn's best selling `America Alone' and was immediately jumped on by the Canadian Islamic Congress, their version of CAIR.

Even though Maclean’s published a total of 27 letters over two issues in response to Steyn’s piece the CIC apparently decided that wasn't good enough and demanded t a longer response, which Maclean’s was willing to consider. The CIC then insisted on a five page article, written by an author of their choice, with no editing by the magazine...plus, they wanted it to be a cover story, with art chosen by them, rather than the magazine.

At that point, Editor-in-Chief Kenneth Whyte pulled the plug on the CIC's `response' after which the CIC filed suit, and at least two of Canada’s “Human Rights Commissions” – one federal, one provincial agreed to hear their complaints that their human rights had been violated.

This is a bigger deal than it appears to be.

There has been a concerted effort by Islamist groups here in the west - largely funded by countries like Saudi Arabia - to shut down any criticism of the Islamist agenda. Some of you may remember talk show host Michael Graham, who was fired after agitation by CAIR and other Islamist groups here in America. Lately, CAIR has been sued by talkshow host Michael Savage for attempting to blackmail his sponsors and destroy him, and using copyrighted material he owns to do it.

Another aspect of this is the so-called ' libel tourism' , which uses British law and US reciprocation in a well-funded attempt to destroy writers critical of the Islamist agenda.

Maclean's and Steyn will no doubt come out just fine in the end. But it's high time we began explaining to people like CAIR the CIC and their ilk that this is a free society, and that if they're not comfortable with that there are other countries more in accord with their line of thinking.

Enough is Enough.
