Watcher's Council Nominations, 3/18/08

Every week, the Watcher's Council members nominate two posts each, one from the Council members and one from outside for consideration by the whole Council. The complete list of this week's Council nominations can be found at the site of our fearless leader, the infamous Watcher of Weasels

Do take the time and check out the non-Council links..they are always rewarding.

Here's this week's lineup...apparently a certain 'spiritual mentor' of a certain presidential candidate was very much on people's minds this week...along with a speech by that candidate that was supposed to answer a few questions.

  1. Obama Shucks and Jives On Jeremiah Wright
Joshuapundit -This week, I wrote on how the dinosaur media has finally been forced to acknowledge Barack Hussein Obama's hate mongering `spiritual mentor', and accordingly, the Chosen One was forced to do a little tap dancing around the matter.

  2. He issued a statement that was supposed to calm the waters and jive us into forgetting all about Pastor Wright's bigoted screeds. Instead, it was so stunning in its outright lies, effrontery and lack of respect for the intelligence of the rest of us that the only explanation for him issuing it is pure arrogance. After hearing his speech today, I'm even more convinced of Obama's true nature.

  3. Talking With Terrorists
Soccer Dad -This week, Soccer Dad makes the case for Israel NOT doing so. A pity that they don't extend that policy to Arafat II Abbas and Fatah.

  4. Judge Not Lest You Be Judged
Bookworm Room -The scintillating Ms. Bookworm has a post on the necessity of judging and reacting to evil.

  5. The Six Signs/The Seven Signs
The Glittering Eye -Dave Schuler uses a piece by the bloviating William Arkin to examine whether war with Iran is imminent. As you know, I think it isn't...and the NIE, formulated by diplomats with well-known views on the subject who were hand picked for the job by the Bush administration (and especially the emphasis by the press on certain parts to the exclusion of others) was a pretty clear signal.

  6. The Problem Is...
Done With Mirrors - Callimachus takes th emickey out of a new book on WWII 'Human Smoke'

  7. "We don't want to embarrass anyone"
The Colossus of Rhodey--Hube writes about a local school board taking the dogma of self-esteem at all costs to its logical end..with a free lunch thrown in!

  8. Hypocrisy and Obaminations (Update 3)
Wolf Howling This week, GW provides some fine examples of how the dinosaur media is in the tank for presidential candidate Barack Hussein Obama.

  9. Fisking the Obama Speech
Rhymes With Right-Greg does a fine job of detailed analysis on today's speech on race by Obama

  10. A Matter Of Free Speech Or Simple Disrespect? The Education Wonks
  11. - EdWonk looks at the interesting case of two men, one a public school employee who were removed from a school event for refusing to stand for the national anthem.

  12. Seething
Cheat Seeking Missiles-Laer likewise delves into Obama's speech today, and notices some major discrepancies...

Should We Ignore Reverend Wright? Right Wing Nut House -Rick also wrote on Reverend Wright, and if I understand him correctly, he makes the point that there are lots of black preachers just like him,and that what's important is what Obama believes. Having been a guest in a number of black churches at one time or another I can't support the first point from personal experience, and even if it's true there is no excusing that kind of hate filled rhetoric from being part of a religious service. And as far as what Obama believes, we know one thing for certain - he doesn't believe in making hard choices or confronting evil when he sees it.

Enjoy!
